Obituary of Robert P. Birdsall

Robert (Bob) Birdsall, 65, of Afton, NY, son of William and Frances Birdsall of Afton, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on May 5, 2020. Bob was born in Goshen, NY and was a graduate of Afton Central School. He is survived by his wife Cathy Birdsall of Afton, NY, daughter Ashlee Wood (Jonathan) of Bainbridge, NY, son Paul Birdsall (Nicole) of Afton, NY, granddaughter Alivia Birdsall of Afton, NY, sisters Sandra Jordan of Guilford, NY, Regina Birdsall-Sickler (Dave) of Afton, NY, Janice Birdsall (Darwin) of Harpursville, NY, brothers Kenneth Birdsall of Afton, NY, Thomas Birdsall (Shelley) of Binghamton, NY, Charles Birdsall (Sharon) of Owego, NY, mother-in-law Edna Howe of Bainbridge, NY, sister-in-law Laurie Howe of Greene, NY, nieces Rebecca Sickler (Dylan) of Afton, NY, Audra McFarland of Owego, NY and nephews Ethan McFarland of Owego, NY, Ricky Carbone (Gaby) of Plainfield, NJ, Aaron Carbone of Greene, NY and great-niece Brynleigh Carbone of Greene, NY. He is predeceased by brother William Birdsall, Jr., mother Frances Birdsall and father William Birdsall. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and loved gardening, caring for his blueberry farm, making and selling hay from his land, cutting wood and hunting. He worked as a signal mechanic for the Canadian Pacific Railway for 38 years. He recently retired from the railroad and was able to spend more time with his outdoor interests. Bob was very ambitious; work was his passion. He did not like to be idle. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He had many friends in the community and was loved and respected by all. Arrangements will be made by C.H. Landers, Inc. Sidney, NY. Interment will be private.
