Obituary of Concetta Mirabito
Concetta "Tina" Mirabito, 99, of Endwell, NY, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2020 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY. Concetta was born in Norwich, NY to Salvatore and Josephine Mirabito on December 1, 1920. Concetta grew up in Norwich where she met her lifetime love, Thomas Mirabito. After graduating from Norwich High School, she worked in the knitting mill in Norwich. Concetta's high school wish came true on September 5, 1942 when she married Thomas Mirabito, Sr. to whom she was devoted to for over 69 years. She moved to Sidney, NY with Thomas and worked at Scintilla before starting their family. Concetta and Thomas spent many years in Sidney where they were members of Sacred Heart Church, and Concetta was a member of the Rosary Society. Concetta devoted herself to her family and even though their needs and care always came first, she also found time to be active in her community. Concetta was heavily involved in the Delaware County Cancer Society, was the First Lady of Rotary District 7170 from '85-'86 and was a member of Sidney BPW. Concetta most recently lived at Good Shepherd Village in Endwell, NY and was a member of Holy Family Church in Endwell where she enjoyed making many new friends. Concetta loved people and found the most joy in being surrounded by her friends and family.
Concetta is survived by her children: Rosemarie (Arthur) Weed of Jensen Beach, FL; Thomas J. Mirabito, Jr. (Gloria) of The Villages, FL; John (Cheryl) Mirabito of Binghamton, NY; and Joseph (Rosemary) Mirabito of Binghamton, NY; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Mirabito, Sr., her parents, Salvatore and Josephine Mirabito; her son, James Mirabito; and her five brothers: Joe (Jane), Frank (Barbara), Jim (Angie), Salvatore (Ruth), and Fred (Estelle).
Her family is thankful for her caring friends at Good Shepherd, and the care she received from Endwell Family Physicians and the staff at UHS Wilson Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mercy House at 212 N. McKinley Ave., Endicott, NY 13760, or the Catholic Schools of Broome County Foundation at 70 Seminary Ave., Binghamton, NY 13905.
Due to the pandemic, private funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Endwell. Burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
