Obituary of Dorothy Henrietta Booth

Our beloved mother and grandmother has gone to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Dorothy Henrietta (Retta) Booth passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020 at age 93 after a short stay in AO Fox Memorial Hospital. She was the sweetest mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren taking a devoted interest in all their lives. Retta was born on November 14, 1926 in Walton, NY to Kenneth O. Davis, Sr. and Virginia T. (Carroll) Davis. The family later moved to Sidney. She married Norman (Bud) Booth on June 1, 1946. Retta loved the Lord very much and was a very faithful prayer warrior, especially for her family. She was an Honor graduate of the Sidney High School class of 1944 (where she was a cheerleader and for a short time a drum majorette), a long-time member of the Free Methodist Church in Bainbridge and later a member of the Circle Drive Alliance Church in Sidney, and a retiree of Bendix Corporation where she was a machinist, an inspector, and a member of the Union. She was also a member of the Sidney Mothers' Club in the 1960's and a den mother for Cub Scouts Pack 34, a past member of the Guilford Historical Society, a founding member of the Sidney Alumni Association, and for a couple of years led, along with her daughter, a Bible study at Camp Brace in Masonville. Over the years she faithfully attended all her grandchildren's sporting events. Retta was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her four children: son, Michael (Peggy) Booth of Bainbridge, NY; son, Stephen (Suzan) Booth of Osteen, Florida; daughter, Lori (Rick) Shaw of Downsville, NY; and son, James (Carrie) Booth of Milford, NY; seven grandchildren: Peleg (Jeremie Hoyt) Booth, Amanda (Fernando) Martinez, Jeffrey (Shannon) DuFour, Kristin (John) Ashcom, Ryan Booth, Michele (Christopher) Lofay, and Stone Phillips; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Emily, Kayleigh, and Marc Hoyt, Tegan, Tenley, and Teala Martinez, Cooper and Connor DuFour, Johnny and Jake Ashcom, and Andrew, Nicholas, Savannah, and Adelaide Lofay. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth O. Davis, Sr.; mother, Virginia T. Davis; brother, Kenneth O. Davis, II; sister-in-law, Alberta Davis; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Jean Booth of Sidney, and ex-husband, Norman Booth. In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Circle Drive Alliance Church, 6 Circle Drive, Sidney, NY. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.landersfh.com. Arrangements under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel of Sidney.
