Obituary of Joshua Paul Newell
Joshua Paul Newell, 34, of Sidney Center, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 24th at Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, NY.
Joshua was born in Sidney, NY to Robert Allen Newell Jr. and Lorraine (Harrington) Newell on February 18, 1986.
Josh met his soulmate Jessica in 2010 and gained a stepson and best buddy, Parker Harrington. Josh and Jess married August 31, 2013 and soon followed the birth of their son and best friend, Tucker Allen Newell in 2014.
He attended Sidney Central School. He worked for Frank Tartaglia Inc. Railroad Contractor for many years. He loved working for the railroad where he made many lifelong friends that are like family. Josh's passions were being with family and friends, (ice) fishing, hunting, racing, camping at the East Sidney Dam, boating, and snowmobiling. He loved demolition derbys, and hotwheels derbys with his son, Tucker. He was the ultimate outdoorsman and a very talented carpenter and builder. He could make anything beautifully.
His family and friends knew him as a kind, gentle hearted man who would give you the shirt off his back and tell you exactly what he thought. Josh was a volunteer firefighter with the Sidney Center Fire Department, and a member of the Sidney Center Improvement Group.
He was so strong and fought so hard during his battle. Many doctors and nurses, as well as fellow cancer fighters, told Josh what an amazing attitude he had while going through treatment.
He would tell them every time he left, "stay positive" and that's just what Josh did. He would want to tell all his Doctors and especially nurses how grateful he was for them.
Joshua is survived by his wife, Jessica Newell, 2 children Parker Harrington and Tucker Allen Newell; mother, Lorraine Newell and George Minor; father, Robert Allen Newell Jr. and Carole L. Finch; Mother and father-in-law, Trisha and Eric Evans; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Cindy Campbell; maternal grandparents, Paul Edward Harrington Sr. and Kay Lorraine Harrington; paternal grandparents, Ed and Grace Backus and many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
