What can I say now, 8 months later, about David "Reno" Smith?
David and I both graduated in 1973 BGHS.
David and I became close friends in high school when he and I formed a rock music band known as "Adolph's Roach Killers" with Reno on keys, playing a Vox Super-Continental keyboard wih a Leslie cab!
This might have been 1971 or 72. I have great memories with David at that time. There was a radio/tv repair shop around the corner from his house on Front Street that we would visit weekly to rummage through the junk to find speakers, boxes and electronics from which we could "create" something!
1973 was the last time I saw or spoke with David until 45 years later when, somehow, we reconnected. Thank you, Internet.
I live in greater NYC, but whenever I came home to Bainbridge, a visit with Dave was required after that reconnection. I loved these visits. We shared some of the past, but it was more about the present and David's love for the history of Bainbridge.
David and I picked up right where we left off, as if no time had passed at all.
Unfortunately, it was the Internet that, 8 months ago, informed me of David's passing.
"Reno" was always fun, positive and upbeat. Full of energy and excitement about life. That's what I will remember always about him.
God bless you, David R. Smith. You are missed.
My condolences to Tom, Joan and extended family.
