Obituary of Anna M. Morenus

Anna Morenus, 96, of Sidney Center, NY passed away March 9, 2020 at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta, NY. She was born on July 25, 1923 in Trout Creek, NY to parents Michael and Mary (Gonda) Sziwack (immigrants from Hungary). Anna married Ralph (Ike) Morenus on June 25, 1945 in Deposit, NY. She is survived by children: Mike (Cathy), Dave (Patty), Rose Jacobs, Tom (Jane) and Jim; grandchildren: Andy, Joe, Julie Dixon Rasure, Nick Jacobs, Rickie Jacobs Galeotti, Karen Jacobs Bertram, Thomas (Kirby), Kyle, Jesse and Leigh; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and her daughter, Kathy, as well as brothers Joe and Tony Sziwack. Anna was a hardworking, devoted dairy farmer's wife and mother. She was probably best known for her love and expertise for her flower beds and vegetable garden. She continued to plant flowers until she was 92 years old. Later in life, she volunteered at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital for several years. Her family extends their gratitude to the staff at A.O. Fox Memorial Nursing Home for their care and compassion for the past 2 ½ years. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be directed to the Diabetes Association.
