She was a sweet person, always happy and smiling. I've known her a short time but have grown to love her as a person. I hope to someday see you again. Until then hope you get to go and do all the things you've wanted to do.

The beaming smile she always gave me and the recognition i so did not deserve and the compliments are memories I cherish that actually bring a smile to my face...a blessing with a bigger blessing yet to come when we all meet in heaven....what a glorious day that will be.

Great-Grandma Hellerud was a wonderful lady, when Dad brought me up to see her I would get excited and give her many kisses(I think my cousin Cali got jealous when I came) she would sneak me goodies and enjoy laying with her! I love and miss you very much great-grandma! Love Bo-peep

Grandma Lydia Hellerud, you were a truly wonderful lady and grandmother. I remember you telling how much you loved the Lord, and even when times were hard you remained positive and always had an encouraging word to everyone, such as "keep your head up high" and "brighten the corner- where you are." and you always had a big smile on your face for everyone. You loved children and had a big heart for animals, you always took care of others before yourself. I will always remember how much you enjoyed traveling and going out to fun places, right up to the end. One of my favorite memories was going to the Zoo with you, and watching you enjoy feeding the giraffes and other animals. You were a kid at heart even enjoying the State Fair at 92 yrs. old with me. You loved visiting NYC (going on the Staten Island Ferry, Statute of Liberty, all around NYC even Park Ave where you spent so many years working to help support your siblings and mother). I really enjoyed riding with you to the magic shows in Indiana and Nashville TN for fellowship of Christian magicians. My birthday was not the same without you this year but, in a way, it seemed like you were watching over me because on my Birthday, your favorite show came on the TV, the Lone Ranger and despite watching that show with you for years, on that day, Lone Ranger said Happy Birthday to a person in the show, as if he was saying to me. Odd, I never saw that episode before your passing, and how it appeared on my birthday was like you were still here. I said "Grandma, was this one for me- because you knew it was my birthday?" I'm glad you remembered. I am very happy to have been your grandson and have been with you right to the very end, unfortunately due to several relatives not caring as much, a few of your final wishes were not fulfilled, one of them was to see my brother Aaron one more time. you said it 2 years ago, I did everything I could to fulfill that wish but sadly it didn't happen. Unfortunately it seems that people are just too focused on their lives to make time for people, like you, who sacrifice so much for our future. I know that one day we will be together again in the house of the Lord, until that day you will live on in my memory and in my heart. Thank you for teaching me through the years, your kindness will never be forgotten by me. I hope you're on the train now traveling to all the places that you couldn't go while here on earth.

She was a very kind-hearted grandmother who always gave to others before doing for herself. She was so kind, warm, caring and loving. Life will never be the same for me now that she is gone. I miss you every second of the day. Love Forever Cali

Lydia was perhaps the most generous, selfless person I've ever known. She was very kind-hearted and loved to make others happy. She worked hard all of her life, and was a very loving mother, sister, and aunt. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She also was a talented writer. Her brother and sisters, nieces and nephews will all sorely miss her, but not as much as her four devoted children, Kevin, Dagny, Les and Lori, who she loved more than life itself. I look forward to seeing her again in Heaven, so I can tell her again how much I love her.

She was a kind, gentle woman and one of the most genuine I've ever known. I'll always remember the time she showed me and my brother, Rob, around NYC, Coney Island, The Empire State Building, and gave us our first subway ride. RIP, Aunt Lydia.
