Linda Mazzarella Panaro

Sidney – Linda Mazzarella Panaro passed away on October 25, 2019, after a brief illness at Valley View Nursing Home in Norwich, New York.

Linda was born on December 25, 1946, in Edmeston, NY, and grew up in Sidney NY, with her parents Louis “Scrap” and Jean Mazzarella, graduating with the Sidney Senior high School Class of 1965.  Linda attended the State University of New York at Fredonia before earning her certification as an Executive Assistant from the Central City Business Institute in Syracuse.   Linda then took a series of progressively more responsibly secretarial positions including time with the Bendix silk screening operation in Sidney.  She then moved on to a senior assistant position with Marsh, McClellan, the largest insurance brokerage at the time, and spent several years on the west coast until a third earthquake knocked her out of bed and sent her packing to the more safe environs of Upstate New York.  She finished her professional career working for the State of New York in a number of different positions. It was while with the State that she met her now ex-husband, John Panaro of Norwich, NY.

Linda was known on the local church bazaar circuit for her crotchet and knit offerings that were always popular sellers. She was also a devoted dog lover and at the time of her death was the parent to two Pomeranians, Jasper and Jade.

Linda was predeceased by her parents “Scrap” and Jean Mazzarella and her brother, John M. Mazzarella.  She is survived by her brother Tony Mazzarella of Rehoboth Beach, DE.  Two nieces; Kathryn Ledesma of Richmond, VA, and Dana Mazzarella of Columbia, MD and a great nephew, Master Max Ledesma of Richmond, VA.  She is also survived by several cousins, Rick Smith of Skaneateles, NY, Ralph Arrandale of North Blenheim, NY, Kristine Williams of Harwich, MA, and Steven Arrandale of Sidney New York.
