Obituary of Brooke Nicole Ketchum

Brooke N. Ketchum, 27, originally from Gilbertsville, died in the early morning hours on October 4, 2019 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. She was enrolled as a student at DCMO BOCES in the LPN program and was working part-time as a home health care aide. She had finally found a career path that she was passionate about as deep down inside, Brooke was a compassionate, caring, loving person who put everyone else's feelings before her own. Brooke touched people's lives in many different ways. There were times when she shined, and times when she struggled. She is remembered as being genuine, strong, full of laughter, silly, blunt, and downright fun. Ultimately, Brooke died in tragic and desperate circumstances. On behalf of Brooke's family, we want to acknowledge and show our appreciation to all of the people in this community who were her friends, those who shared their hearts and homes with, the first responders, and those that tried to help Brooke face and manage the many demons that impacted her life. You all tried your very best and should feel good about that. Brooke was predeceased by several family members and is now in the arms of Mimi (grandmother), Papa (grandfather), Dad (Ron Ketchum), her first love Kyle Seaman, and her son Ryder Seaman. She leaves behind her two precious daughters, Hailee Jane Seaman (7) and Peyton Elizabeth Ketchum (3); her mother, Cindy Ketchum; sisters, Gwen Ketchum and Heather (Issac, Camden, and Ellie) Ketchum Wilcox; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral arrangements are being handled by C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY. Calling hours will be Wednesday, October 9 from 2-4pm with the funeral immediately following at 4:00pm. The family invites you to the VFW for a reception following services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a memorial fund for her daughters.
